In an editorial regarding the use of sub-therapeutic antibiotics in farming, Daniel E. Lee states: "Though we did not realize it at the time, we were part of a problem that has become exceedingly serious...antibiotic-resistant bacteria." The author highlights Fork in the Road hog farmer, Russ Kremer, who developed a life-threatening infection resistant to six of the seven drugs used to treat it. Following the infection, Kremer stopped using antibiotics on his farm and transitioned to a more sustainable model.

The region includes Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey (Marlton, Princeton, and Cherry Hill), Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Items available include Fork in the Road pasture-raised beef hot dogs and Non-GMO Project Verified gourmet sausages. All items will be on sale in the region September 21-28, 2016.

Fork in the Road Foods was named a recipient of a 2016 Good Food Award in the charcuterie category for its Black Forest Ham. The winners were announced at a January 15 ceremony in San Francisco that included luminaries Alice Waters, Nell Newman, and Slow Food Founder, Carlo Petrini. The awards honor products that are tasty, authentic, and responsibly produced. The 176 winners in 13 categories were selected from nearly 2,000 entrants after a vigorous vetting process and blind tasting.
